Call For Speakers
TEDxRenfrewCollingwood is a day-long event of talks, activities and play that invites thought, discussion and connection. Licensed by TED and organized by a dedicated group in the local community, TEDxRenfrewCollingwood will take place on October 19th, 2013, at Windermere Secondary School.
“TEDx provides a great opportunity and platform for discovering and sharing the wealth of experi- ence, wisdom & great ideas that exist in RenfrewCollingwood and in our city. It is also an opportunity to invite people into the community, to share their knowledge with us.” said Niki Dun, TEDxRenfrew- Collingwood curator.
TEDxRenfrewCollingwood is looking for speakers with innovative ideas and interesting experiences to stimulate and inspire the audience under the theme, “From Far to Here”. The opportunity to speak is open to anyone from anywhere — including non-English speakers. “To be truly representative of our community and our city, language shouldn’t be a barrier to participating. Great ideas come in languages other than English,” says Dun.
Speakers will be given up to 18 minutes onstage to captivate the audience with their passion. All TEDx presentations will be recorded and shared with the world, with the possibility of being viewed by more than 72 million people through TED’s online networks.
“People’s interest in TED crosses so many boundaries – gender, age, culture, discipline – that TEDx- RenfrewCollingwood has huge potential to bring together groups from the community and the city who might not normally meet or interact. The common theme is to celebrate all the exciting things that are happening here – and share them with the world.”
