What’s up with Lulu?
Island, that is. In the spirit of Civil Engineer Richard Moody and the Actress Extraordinaire Lulu Sweet, the infatuated progenitors of the island that bears her first name, the Lulu Society offers us a synthesis of conversations among artists, architects and economists. The goal of this endeavour is no less than to, “reinvent the modern urban environment”.
Here is the plan: “Connect citizens and their communities through art and by doing so enhance commerce and create benefits for business leader and design professionals to proactively incorporate artistic expressions into their places of business and building designs and for politicians to promote and support this; and lay challenges and establish goals for the growth of art in Richmond and other Lower Mainland communities.”
Hmmm. What do you think about that? Are we looking at a new Renaissance? Another Gilded Age?
